Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Zenith uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. Zenith is made by The Pew Estate LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we," "us"). It covers the Zenith app for iPhone and Android and these web pages.
The short version: Zenith has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking, and we run no servers that receive your data. Your location, motion data, and settings stay on your phone, except for the two requests described in section 2. We do not sell or share your personal information.
1. Information that stays on your phone
- Location: with your permission, Zenith uses your phone's location to show the sky as it looks where you are and to work out rise and set times. If you don't allow location, you can choose a place by hand in Settings. Your location is used on your phone and is never sent to us.
- Motion and compass: in Live mode, Zenith reads your phone's motion sensors and compass so the sky follows where you point. These readings are used on your phone only. They are not stored and are never sent anywhere.
- Settings: your preferences, such as Night Mode, units, the star limit, and any place you entered by hand, are saved on your phone.
- Last forecast: the most recent weather forecast is saved on your phone, with the rounded location it was for, so the Tonight screen still works without a signal.
2. Information that leaves your phone
Zenith makes only the two kinds of internet requests below. Neither includes your name, email, or any account details, because Zenith has no accounts.
- Weather forecast (Open-Meteo): to show cloud cover and the sky-quality score on the Tonight screen, Zenith asks Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a weather service, for a forecast. The request includes your location rounded to about 1 kilometer (two decimal places), never your exact position. As with any website, Open-Meteo also receives your device's IP address with the request. Open-Meteo's own terms and privacy policy apply to it.
- Place name (Apple or Google): to show the name of your town at the top of the sky, Zenith asks your phone's built-in location service to turn your coordinates into a place name. On iPhone this request is handled by Apple, and on Android by Google, under their own privacy policies. Zenith keeps only the place name, on your phone.
Without an internet connection, Zenith keeps working: the sky, search, and Night Mode need no connection at all, and Tonight shows the last saved forecast.
3. What we receive
We do not receive any information from the app. The only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to send us, for example when you email [email protected] for support. We use it only to answer you, and we delete it on request.
4. Advertising and tracking
Zenith shows no ads. It contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting tools, uses no advertising identifiers, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
5. Children
Zenith is suitable for all ages. Because it does not collect personal information, it collects none from children. If a child emails us, we use the message only to reply, and a parent or guardian can ask us to delete it at any time.
6. Your choices
- Location: turn location access off at any time. On iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Zenith. On Android: Settings → Location → App location permissions → Zenith. You can then set a place by hand in Zenith's Settings.
- Motion: switch the Sky screen to manual mode, or turn off Motion & Fitness for Zenith in your iPhone's settings.
- Erasing your data: everything Zenith stores is on your phone. Deleting the app erases it. We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side, apart from any emails you sent us.
- Your rights: depending on where you live, such as California, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, you may have rights to access or delete personal information. Email us and we will respond, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
7. Security
Forecast requests use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Information stored by Zenith is protected by your phone's own security, such as your passcode.
8. International users
Zenith is made in the United States. The weather and place-name services above may process their requests in other countries under their own policies.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date above. If a change is significant, such as a new kind of information leaving your phone, we will also say so in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
